I came to recognise the fantasy genre through Stephen King's Dark Tower series. Set in a world of time-travel, fantastical characters and surreal landscapes, the fantasy elements were somewhat surprising and welcome to me.

Although I have never been a lover of "high" fantasy by the likes of Terry Goodkind and Robert Jordan, I have a love of more user friendly fantasy of the likes of Terry Pratchett (also see humour) and Robin Jarvis.

Where my love of fantasy really takes over is my art. The blazing landscapes and beautiful people and creatures found in fantasy art, as well as the darker and sinister scenes created by the likes of Brom and Luis Royo, have always drawn me to them.

Along with work on the Back Side humour books and pieces, fantasy has been appearing more and more in the stories and ideas I have been producing of late.  I don't know any real reason for this, but I'm generally happy to go along with what ever the fingers decide to type.

Works In Progress

The Syndicate - This is probably one of the most ambitious and potentially life-consuming projects I will ever embark upon. The story of The Syndicate is currently spread over three separate novels, each of which are a loose thread leading back to their source. There is little connecting the stories at first, but as they progress there are signs that these characters, so very far apart, will come together before this tale can be concluded. I don't know how many other threads will appear before it is done, but I do know that it is going to be a long, hard road to tread.

The Sinner Trilogy - This is a working title for a three novel story based on a poem I wrote a few years ago. The poem told of the angel Archangelo, who came to earth out of lust and through his sin was forced to remain on Earth. The story sot of follows on from the poem in many ways, expanding the story and asking questions of mortality, life and death, and love and lust.

Untitled - The latest idea in this section is based on the idea of being in the right place at the wrong time. If you were standing in the middle of nowhere, a place with little defining it from anywhere else, yet someone from the Postal Service walked up to you and gave you a packaged addressed to that exact spot...what would you do? Especially if the package was not meant for you. A story of how sometimes things don't always go according to plan.
